Eid al-adha’s tradition of butchering comes from the story of the ancient prophet Ibrahim I. Legend has it that he was very loyal and often sacrificed a lot of cattle and sheep to worship Allah. But never having a child was his constant trouble. So he prayed to Allah that he would not regret giving him a child, even in the future, if he had his own child as a sacrifice.

Later, Allah realized his wish. His wife really gave birth to a child for him, named Ismaili, which was very happy for the old couple. With Ismaili’s company, their life became better. But with the passage of time, Ibrahim has completely forgotten the promise he made to Allah. When Ismaili became a man, the test of Allah came. In his dreams, Allah hinted to him several times that he would fulfill his promise.

So he told his son Isma’ilism what had happened, and prepared to take him to a lonely valley, ready to prove his loyalty to Allah. To thank Allah and commemorate the event, the Prophet Muhammad has carried on this tradition to this day and is included in one of the Hajj rituals.So this is where Eid al-Adha comes from.
